Well this is a particularly good day for Canadians. Hockey is taken extremely seriously in Canada, we invented ice hockey, and it’s our game! Last night our dominance of the game was put to the test and once again we proved it is our game. And what a game it was last night! The US may only have been ranked 4th or 5th but had a perfect tournament. Canada held the lead for most of the game but the pesky Americans scored in the last minute to force overtime. Canada had made the mistake of trying to protect the lead and the Americans made us pay. In OT we went back to dominating play and in at the 7:40 mark the great Sidney Crosby scored to gives us gold. Team Canada has a habit of winning in dramatic fashion and Crosby joins the list of Canadian heroes that deliver us to victory.
Thanks Sidney! (He's from the same province as I am

I’m not a big fan of the NHL playing in the Olympics, I prefer to see more of the Canada/World cups, there’s more time to have a proper tournament. There have been 7 of them and Canada has won 5. Of course we also won the 1972 Summit Series the first time our National team got to play the then Soviet Union, a defining moment in hockey history. I also think NHL rules should always be used, an elimination game should never be decided by a shootout!
In 1998 it was decided that the NHL would shut down for 2 weeks and players would be allowed to play in the Olympics and since then Canada has won 2 of the 4 golds including the one we won last night! The Olympics were held in Canada this year and Canada broke the record for the most gold medals ever won by a country in the Winter Olympics. Personally I only really cared about the hockey medals and am as pleased as punch that our Men won last night, and our women won their third straight gold!
Here’s some of the celebration that took place in Ottawa last night
And here’s another pic showing Canadian pride. It has nothing to do with last night’s game but I still like it
Also let’s not forget our democracy is in danger, here’s a good article.
